Yoga and Ayurvedia are intertwined in Indian history together. They stem from Samkhya philosophy (of the Hindu tradition) and describe a world where all energy and matter is "prakriti" and pure potency is "purusha".
These Vedic traditions are beginning to reimmerge as humanity looks for ways to find balance in this chaotic, modern world. The ancient teachings talk about the 3 gunas: sattva, rajas and tamas; explaining that these different energies make up the Universe as we know it.
In the human body we are all born in to an individual and unique make up of the doshas; our own specific constitution. This is our natural balance of dosha energy. Relating to elemental properties - the doshas are VATA (air), PITTA (fire) and KAPHA (earth), and you can think of them in terms of their elemental power. Vata is light, creative and permeable.. Pitta is forceful, focussed and transformative... Kapha is heavy, solid and tangible. Neither is better or worse, but when exacerbated or out of balance, accordinging to Ayurvedia, this is when we see disharmony or disease manifest.
Drawing on this ancient wisdom, Quantum Yoga uses the doshas as a foundation for vinyasa sequencing. In this workshop we will:
Delve into the 3 doshas and their characteristics.
Explore which one (or two or three) resonates most with us.
Learn what may happen when doshas are in, and out, of balance.
Practice dosha regulating sequences, which encourage natural harmony.
